Tiara Tuesday

So with a catchy title like that - I knew I would get your attention - it's not always going to be about Tiara's because, well not everyone wants to wear a tiara! Why is beyond me, there are some pretty awesome creations out there - from full on bling and sparkle to crystal creations that draw out your inner witchy goddess! However let's start this amazing Tuesday inspired blog by actually honouring the tiara!

What is a Tiara? According to Wikipedia..........

A tiara (from Latin: tiara, from Ancient Greek: τιάρα) is a jeweled head ornament. Its origins date back to ancient Greece and Rome. In the late 18th century, the tiara came into fashion in Europe as a prestigious piece of jewelry to be worn by women at formal occasions. The basic shape of the modern tiara is a (semi-)circle, usually made of silver, gold or platinum, and richly decorated with precious stones, pearls or cameos.

Tiaras were extremely popular during the late 19th century and were worn at events where the dress code was white tie. After World War I, wearing a tiara gradually fell out of fashion, except for official occasions at a royal court. Interest in tiaras has increased again since the beginning of the 21st century. The word "tiara" is often used interchangeably with the word "diadem".

Wedding tiaras are making a comeback, they don't sit directly atop your head, more back a little, sometimes just solo in all their glory or having a veil attached. Let's take a look at some inspiration for you - because it may just be the final piece to your outfit that you didn't know you needed! From the simple to the sublime - everyones taste is different and each are magnificant in their own way.

They are elegant or extravagant - they are something that maybe has lived in the family for years, and is the perfect something borrowed, or have stones in that can be your something blue - and if it was your great grandmothers that she wore to marry her love, then it is definitley something old! Remember for your wedding day it is all about what you want - if you imagined being the perfect Princess on your wedding day with a tiara and the gown, maybe even glass slippers - (although maybe something different for dancing) then you do you, it's your day to shine and the spotlight is well and truly on you - so make sure you catch everyones eye with the sparkle from your newly married crown!
